Clean up Begins...and then Stops!

These were taken after the water started receding the other day. The inside ones show the store before we were able to clean up and take things out. Some of the things in the back of the store...floated from the front. It's amazing how much damage a little water can do. The clean up crew did a fantastic job of ripping the bottom half of the walls down, and shoveling through all of the mud and muck once we got the salvageable merchandise out. They were making good progress...until the rain started falling again. Right now the store is boarded up and sandbagged to try and keep what work they did. More photos of the inside to come. Time to Look Ahead

We have had a chance to go in the store and see the damage firsthand. We were fortunate enough to salvage some of the merchandise, which has been packed and will be stored until we can rebuild. Whether it means cleaning out and redoing the store in its current location...or relocating to a new space it means Life Discovery will be up and running very soon. We thank all of our friends, family and community members who have given their time and energy to clean and pack away merchandise and for the donated plastic bins and tubs. We continue to ask for your prayers and thoughts as we put one foot in front of the other to fulfill God's purpose for Life Discovery Book and Gift Store.

Life Discovery Under Water!

This is the sight at Life Discovery Book and Gift Store behind Big Apple Music in New Hartford. The rain that fell last night and this morning certainly did some damage. We can't get in the doors, and more rain is expected so it may be days before the extent of the damage can be assessed. We are thankful we are all safe and dry in our homes, and are already thinking about the next steps. Many of our Facebook Fans have commented and offered their assistance, we are so blessed to have such caring friends and family. This blog is a way for us to keep you all up to date on the store, and for you to offer your thoughts, prayers, and suggestions in a way we can save them. In the short-term, we are thinking of a space to store the merchandise we can salvage so it will be ready when the store re-opens. If you know of any space that can be used to store things please comment below. We are confident the Lord with be with us in this difficult time, and He will provide the strength and resources we need to rebuild the store to what it was yesterday.
